Why you should fast

Fasting isn’t just about giving something up—it’s about creating space for God to move in your life. It’s a way to seek His presence, renew your spirit, and invite breakthrough. When we fast, we’re saying, “God, I desire You more than anything else.”

The Power of Fasting: Starting the Year with Purpose

As we approach a new year, many of us are setting goals, making resolutions, and dreaming of what’s ahead. But what if this year, instead of just focusing on physical, financial, or personal goals, we prioritized something deeper? What if we set our hearts on seeking God in a powerful and intentional way?

That’s where fasting comes in.

Fasting is more than giving something up; it’s about creating space for God to move in our lives.

It’s an ancient spiritual practice that helps us refocus, hear from God, and grow closer to Him. As we start 2025, we’re inviting you to join us at R.A.G.E. Ministries for a 28-day fast beginning January 3.

What is Fasting?

Biblical fasting is intentionally abstaining from something—usually food—for a set period of time to focus on God. It’s about saying, “God, I desire You more than anything else.”

Jesus Himself fasted (Matthew 4:2) and taught about fasting as a normal part of spiritual life (Matthew 6:16-18). Fasting helps us realign our hearts, humble ourselves before God, and seek His guidance and power.

Why Start the Year with a Fast?

1. Seek God’s Presence: Fasting clears the distractions and allows us to focus on God. It’s a time to quiet the noise and listen to His voice.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

2. Renew Your Spirit: The start of the year is a perfect time to reset. Fasting helps us let go of past failures and look ahead with fresh faith.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

3. Invite Breakthrough: Fasting is often linked to breakthroughs in Scripture. When we fast and pray, God moves in powerful ways.

“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free?” (Isaiah 58:6)

How to Join the 28-Day Fast

We’re inviting you to be part of a 28-day fast with us starting January 3, 2025. Together, we’ll focus on growing closer to God, praying for specific breakthroughs, and preparing our hearts for the year ahead.

Here’s how to join:

1. Sign Up by January 2: Visit www.rageministries.com/28 to sign up. You’ll start receiving daily emails on January 3 with a devotional, Scripture, and prayer focus to guide you through the fast.

2. Choose Your Fast: Pray about what God is leading you to fast from—whether it’s meals, social media, entertainment, or something else.

3. Prepare Your Heart: Spend time in prayer and ask God to reveal what He wants to do in your life during this fast.

What to Expect During the Fast

Each day, you’ll receive an email with:

• A Scripture to meditate on.

• A devotional to encourage and challenge you.

• A prayer focus to guide your time with God.

This fast isn’t about perfection; it’s about surrender.

Whether this is your first fast or your hundredth, God will honor your heart and meet you in ways you never expected.

The Invitation

Fasting is not easy, but it’s worth it. When we set aside distractions and seek God wholeheartedly, we position ourselves to experience His power, presence, and purpose in a deeper way.

As we begin this 28-day fast together, let’s commit to seeking God above all else. Let’s pray for personal growth, breakthroughs in our families and communities, and for the next generation to know and follow Jesus.

Are you ready to start 2025 with purpose? Join us by signing up at www.rageministries.com/28 before January 2. Let’s seek God together and see what He will do!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
